مهرجان بابل لفن الأداء 2024: النسخة الأولى
أقيم مهرجان بابل لفن الأداء في نسخته الأولى خلال الفترة من 29 أكتوبر إلى 2 نوفمبر 2024، ليشكل بداية وتجربة استثنائية رغم التحديات الكبيرة. كان المهرجان في الأصل مخططًا كفعالية دولية، إلا أن الصراعات المستمرة في الشرق الأوسط والتوترات المتزايدة بين إسرائيل وإيران أدت إلى تعليق الرحلات الجوية فوق العراق، مما حال دون مشاركة سبعة فنانين دوليين مدعوين.
ورغم ذلك، أثبت المهرجان أنه منصة رائعة، حيث قدم الفنانون عروضًا مميزة داخل الآثار التاريخية لمدينة بابل، إضافة إلى عمل جماعي مميز أقيم في جامعة الحلة التي كانت داعمًا أساسيًا للمهرجان. نال هذا العمل الجماعي تقديرًا واسعًا لما حمله من رمزية ودلالات فنية وثقافية عميقة.
شملت الفعاليات أيضًا ورشة عمل أقيمت في كلية الفنون الجميلة في الحلة، إلى جانب محاضرات ونقاشات مثمرة في كلية الفنون الجميلة في بغداد والحله.
استقر الفنانون في مزرعة قريبة من آثار بابل، والتي تحولت إلى فضاء غني بالتبادل الثقافي والنقاشات الإبداعية. أضاف هذا الإعداد طابعًا خاصًا للتجربة، معززًا الروابط بين المشاركين ومساهمًا في إثراء العمل الفني.
أثبتت النسخة الأولى من مهرجان بابل لفن الأداء أن الفن قادر على تجاوز العقبات وجمع الناس للاحتفاء بالإبداع والصمود. نحن ممتنون لكل من ساهم في دعم هذا الحلم وتحقيقه، ونتطلع بشغف إلى النسخة الثانية بأفق أوسع وطموحات أكبر.
Babil Performance Art Festival 2024: The First Edition
The inaugural Babil Performance Art Festival took place from October 29 to November 2, 2024, marking a unique and exceptional beginning despite significant challenges. Originally planned as an international event, the festival was reshaped by ongoing conflicts in the Middle East and heightened tensions between Israel and Iran, which led to the suspension of air travel over Iraq and prevented the participation of seven invited international artists.
Nevertheless, the festival proved to be a remarkable platform, showcasing outstanding performances by local artists within the historic ruins of Babylon. A standout group performance was held at Hillah University, a key supporter of the festival. This collective work received widespread acclaim for its profound cultural and artistic symbolism.
The festival also featured a workshop hosted by the College of Fine Arts in Hillah, along with engaging lectures and discussions held at the College of Fine Arts in both Baghdad and Hillah.
The participating artists were accommodated on a farm near the ruins of Babylon, which became a vibrant space for cultural exchange and creative dialogue. This unique setting added a special dimension to the experience, fostering connections among the participants and enriching the artistic process.
The first edition of the Babylon Performance Art Festival demonstrated the power of art to overcome obstacles and bring people together to celebrate creativity and resilience. We extend our gratitude to everyone who supported and contributed to this vision, and we eagerly anticipate the second edition with broader horizons and greater ambitions.

زينا سالم
، فنانة تشكيلية عراقية، حاصلة على دبلوم معهد الفنون الجميلة (1992) وبكالوريوس في الفنون الجميلة (1999). عضو في جمعية التشكيليين ونقابة الفنانين العراقيين منذ عام 1992. شاركت في العديد من المعارض داخل العراق وخارجه منذ 1991، منها أربعة معارض شخصية. لديها اهتمام بالفنون المعاصرة مثل الانستليشن آرت والفيديو آرت و فن الأداء، وقد قدمت عدة أعمال تركيبية وأدائية، منها “البساط الأحمر” و”الأمهات مصانع الرجال”.
Zina Salem
Zina Salem is an Iraqi visual artist with a diploma from the Institute of Fine Arts (1992) and a Bachelor’s degree in Fine Arts (1999). She has been a member of the Iraqi Plastic Artists Association and the Iraqi Artists Syndicate since 1992. Zina has participated in numerous exhibitions in Iraq and abroad since 1991, including four solo exhibitions. She is interested in contemporary arts such as installation, video art, and performance art, having presented various works, including “The Red Carpet” installation and the “Mothers Are Factories of Men” performance.
كاظم خنجر
شاعر وأدائي، نشر عدة أعمال منها “نزهة مع حزام ناسف” بالعربية و”تاجر الدم” و”نزهة محاطة بالمتفجرات” بالفرنسية و”هذه الأرض تخصكم” بالألمانية. شارك في العديد من الصحف والمجلات والمهرجانات، وترجمت العديد من قصائده إلى لغات متعددة. كما أسس “ميليشيا الثقافة” مع بعض الشعراء لأداء الشعر في أماكن الموت والخراب.
Kadhem Khanjar
is a poet and performer who has published several works, including “Picnic with Explosive Belt” in Arabic, “Marchand de Sang” and “Promenade Ceinturé d’Explosif” in French, and “Dieses Land gehört euch” in German. He has participated in numerous newspapers, magazines, and festivals, and many of his poems have been translated into various languages. He also founded “Culture Militia” with some poets to perform poetry in places marked by death and ruin.

فنان عراقي من مواليد 1982 في كركوك، يعمل مدرسًا لمادة الفنية وتخرج من كلية الفنون الجميلة بجامعة الموصل عام 2005. قدم سلسلة من المعارض الشخصية بدءًا من الموصل عام 2005، مرورًا بكركوك والسليمانية وأربيل، وكان آخرها عرضًا مفاهيميًا بعنوان “جدل القامات” في كركوك عام 2020، إلى جانب مشروع “أداء الصوت” عام 2021 مع مجموعة من الفنانين. شارك ديلان أيضًا في العديد من المعارض المشتركة داخل العراق وخارجه، بما في ذلك مصر وهولندا والكويت ولندن وبلجيكا.
Dylan Abdeen
An Iraqi artist born in 1982 in Kirkuk, works as an art teacher and graduated from the College of Fine Arts, University of Mosul, in 2005. He has held a series of solo exhibitions, starting in Mosul in 2005, followed by shows in Kirkuk, Sulaymaniyah, and Erbil, with his latest conceptual performance titled “Debate of the Statures” in Kirkuk in 2020. In 2021, he participated in a “Sound Performance” project alongside a group of artists. Dylan has also taken part in numerous group exhibitions both inside Iraq and internationally, including in Egypt, the Netherlands, Kuwait, London, and Belgium.
محمد عبد الوصي
من مواليد بابل، العراق، 1986. حصل على درجة الماجستير في فنون الظواهر (فرع الرسم) عام 2012. تتنوع أعماله بين الرسم وفن الأداء، متناولًا موضوعات مثل العنف والحرب والهوية الثقافية. تشمل مشاريعه البارزة عروضًا أدائية مثل “مائدة الغداء” (2015)، و”تفجير السيارة” (2016)، و”محرقة الكرادة” (2016)، وأعمال تتناول المقابر الجماعية والجوع والتلوث. شارك في فعاليات دولية، منها بينالي الأداء في تشيلي (2020) ومعرض في كلية الدراسات الشرقية والإفريقية/قاعة بروناي في لندن (2022). من خلال الفن، يواجه محمد واقع الحياة اليومية في العراق، مستخدمًا الأداء للتعبير عن تجارب شخصية وجماعية تتعلق بالصدمات، والجوع، والصمود.
Mohamed Abdul Wasi
born in Babil, Iraq, in 1986, is an artist who graduated in 2012 with a master’s degree in Arts Phenomenon (Drawing). His work spans drawing and performance art, addressing themes like violence, war, and cultural identity. Notable projects include “Lunch Table” (2015), “Car Bomb” (2016), “Karrada Holocaust” (2016), and performances exploring mass graves, hunger, and pollution. He has participated in international events, such as the Performance Triennial in Chile (2020) and an exhibition at SOAS/Brunei Gallery in London (2022). Through art, Mohamed confronts daily realities in Iraq, using performance to express personal and collective experiences of trauma, hunger, and resilience.
مازن المعموري
من مواليد بابل 1970، حاصل على دكتوراه من كلية الفنون الجميلة بجامعة بابل عام 2015. ناقد وأديب، وله العديد من الكتب والمشاريع في فن الأداء منذ عام 2015، بالإضافة إلى مشاركات في أوروبا وآسيا.
مشروعه يتناول التناقض بين حركة المدينة وامتدادها نحو الحقول، وتأثير ذلك على البيئة والمناخ. يستخدم فسيلة نخلة تُسحب على الشارع العام المعبد بالأسمنت، ليرمز إلى أن الأسمنت يقتل الشجرة، مما يعكس صراع الطبيعة مع الأثر الصناعي المدمر لعصر الإنسان البراغماتي.
Mazen Al-Mamouri
born in Babylon in 1970, holds a Ph.D. from the College of Fine Arts at the University of Babylon (2015). He is a critic and writer with numerous books and projects in performance art since 2015, along with participations in Europe and Asia.
His project addresses the contrast between urban expansion and the encroachment on fields, highlighting the impact on the environment and climate. He uses a young palm tree pulled along a cement-paved road to symbolize how concrete is killing nature, reflecting the struggle between nature and the destructive industrial influence of the pragmatic human era.
مؤمل حيدر
من مواليد بغداد 2000، راقص ومصمم رقص يدرس في كلية الفنون الجميلة. عضو في نقابة الفنانين العراقيين وحائز على جوائز مثل أفضل سينوغرافيا في مهرجان القاهرة التجريبي. شارك في عروض مختلفة، منها “إعادة ضبط المصنع” و”الملف 12″، وفي مهرجانات مثل مهرجان شرم الشيخ ومهرجان قرطاج المسرحي.
Moamel Hayder
born in Baghdad in 2000, is a dancer and choreographer studying at the College of Fine Arts. He is a member of the Iraqi Artists Syndicate and has won awards like Best Scenography at the Cairo Experimental Festival. Moamel has participated in various performances, including “Factory Reset” and “File 12,” and festivals like Sharm El-Sheikh and Carthage Theater Festivals.
ريا عبد الرضا
ولدت في الناصرية في 9/10/1978، خريجة معهد الفنون الجميلة وجامعة بغداد في قسم الفنون التشكيلية. تعمل مدرسة وتعيش في محافظة ذي قار.
شاركت في العديد من المعارض، منها المعرض السنوي للكرافيك عام 2001 واليوبيل الذهبي في ذي قار عام 2006، بالإضافة إلى معارض في إسطنبول وأثينا.
قدمت أعمالًا مفاهيمية تناولت حقوق الإنسان وتأثير الحروب، وركزت على التظاهرات التشرينية في العراق. تناقش لوحاتها حقوق المرأة ومعاناتها في مجتمع جنوبي ذكوري، وتسلط الضوء على طموحاتها في العيش بكرامة ومساواة.
Riya Abdul-Rida
born in Nasiriyah on 1978, is a graduate of the Institute of Fine Arts and Baghdad University, specializing in visual arts. She works as a teacher and lives in Dhi Qar Governorate.
She has participated in various exhibitions, including the Annual Graphic Exhibition in 2001 and the Golden Jubilee in Dhi Qar in 2006, as well as exhibitions in Istanbul and Athens.
Riya has presented conceptual works addressing human rights and the impact of wars, focusing on the October protests in Iraq. Her paintings discuss women’s rights and their struggles in a male-dominated southern society, highlighting their aspirations for dignity and equality in life.

ولد في بابل، العراق عام 1994، وأكمل دراسة الفنون التشكيلية عام 2021 في بروكسل، بلجيكا. يتميز علي بعمله متعدد الوسائط الذي يدمج بين التصوير الفوتوغرافي، الفيديو، الصوت، التركيب الفني (الإنستاليشن)، النحت، الرسم، والأداء. تستكشف أعماله الفنية اضطرابات الهوية الشخصية وتساؤلات عميقة حول فكرة اختلال الهوية، متجسدًا في السؤال المحوري: “من أنا؟”. في عام 2018، أسس منظمة اتليه الوان في بلجيكا، وهي مبادرة مكرسة لتعليم الفنون التشكيلية مع التركيز على الرسم.

Ali Sabri
was born in Babylon, Iraq, in 1994. He completed his studies in fine arts in 2021 at ESA LE 75 in Brussels, Belgium. His work is characterized by a multidisciplinary approach, combining photography, video, sound, installation, sculpture, painting, and performance. His artistic practice delves into the complexities of identity disorders and explores profound questions surrounding identity dissonance, centered around the pivotal question, “Who am I?”
In 2018, he founded ATELIERS ALWAN in Belgium, an initiative dedicated to teaching fine arts, particularly painting. He has participated in numerous projects and art exhibitions, both individually and collectively, in Belgium and internationally. His notable contributions include exhibitions at CC Strombeek, Zandloper Wemmel, La Fondation Boghossian, Le SMAK Gand, Homelands, and Places of Belonging.
Ali’s work reflects the depth of human experience, blending personal narratives with contemporary issues, establishing him as a significant young artist with a unique voice in the art world.

A Collaborative Performance by Nine Iraqi Artists at the University of Hillah
As part of the Babil Performance Art Festival 2024, the University of Hillah hosted an extraordinary event: a collaborative performance by nine Iraqi artists that lasted an hour and a half. This unique and unprecedented performance in the history of Iraqi performance art blended individual and collective artistic expressions to create a unified visual narrative that explored themes of identity and human connection.
This performance was a direct outcome of the Babil Performance Art Festival, which provided artists with the opportunity to work together in a stimulating creative environment. The collaboration resulted in a rich and innovative experience, enabling the artists to expand their horizons and adopt a new approach that embodies the spirit of teamwork and collective creativity.

As part of the Babil Performance Art Festival, which aims to promote the arts and provide a platform for cultural and creative exchange, a workshop was organized in collaboration with the College of Fine Arts in Hilla. Artist Mohammed Abd Wassi led this workshop, exploring concepts of physical expression and spatial relationships, blending creativity with education in an inspiring experience for participants.
